Stainless Steel Gas Grills

Stainless steel gas grills are great for your barbecues because they have high resistance to heat, rust, and corrosion. And they look sharp.

Stainless steel gas grills produce fast and even temperatures providing a reliable heat source for cooking for backyard chefs.

And with energy bills climbing, it’s good to know that cooking outdoors does not produce extra heat in the kitchen causing the house temperature to rise. Air conditioning bills are atrocious enough, so cooking outside actually saves you energy money. (And on the food bill too.)

Gas grills can be shut off when not in use and with a flick of a switch, produce instant heat again when called to duty. Stainless steel gas grills can provide a very high heat for a fast seer or a slow and low heat for slow cooking.

There’s no question that stainless steel gas grills are simply great-looking grills. They sit majestically in your backyard looking all bright and shiny — just beggin you to use them!

Although they are constructed with stainless steel, these gas grills will discolor from the heat. You may notice a change in color on certain parts of your stainless steel grill, typically around the lid. This is natural and the only recourse you can do to minimize the de-colorization is to make sure you don’t overheat the grill or preheat for too long.

With that said, it is important to keep your stainless steel gas grill looking great and performing well. Here are some tips to keep your shiny grill clean and ready to go for years of cooking pleasure.

To begin with you’ll need the following items to clean your stainless steel gas grill:

  • 2 spray bottles
  • 2 soft cloths
  • Glass cleaner
  • Paper towels
  • Mild dish-washing liquid
  • Water

Fill one of the spray bottles with water and 1 table spoon of a mild dish-washing liquid. Fill the second bottle with just water. Adjust the nozzles on both bottles so they produce a mist.

Evenly mist the surface of the stainless steel grill with the water/dish-washing liquid concoction. Using the soft cloth, gently scrub the surface of the grill.

With the water spray bottle, rinse the grill and remove all of the soap. Don’t go lightly on this step our you’ll be left with staining and spotting. It won’t be pretty.

Now, dry the surface of the grill using a soft cloth. This will eliminate leaving ugly water spots.

Once the grill has completely dried, mist a fine coating of glass cleaner on any areas where there’s spotting or any visible fingerprints.

To complete the stainless steel cleaning job, wipe off the glass cleaner using the paper towels.

If you find scratches on your grill, don’t despair, there is help! Just use a stainless steel cleaner to clean and polish the stainless steel. You’ll find cleaners on the market that are specifically made for stainless steel appliances. These polishes can help minimize any future scratching that may (will!) occur.

It should go without saying, but NEVER use steel wool or metal brushes to clean the outside of your grill. These abrasive tools will scratch stainless steel extremely easily. Also, stay far away from abrasive cleaning agents. These two can scratch and mar the surface of your stainless steel grill. And as a safety precaution, you do not want to attempt to clean your gas grill while it’s hot. (But you knew that!)

Stainless steel gas grills are more durable and undoubtedly more attractive than their less expensive counterparts. With a little maintenance and upkeep, your stainless steel gas grill will last for many years to come. It’s a great investment!
